    1. I have received medical bills from my recent hospital visit and they are from four or five doctors. All of the doctors have submitted claims to my insurance company and are now billing me for the difference. I only recall maybe one or two doctors treating me. I was not sedated or anything like and I had full control of all my faculties. I want to dispute the other doctors bills as I believe they are just trying to get a piece of the pie since I have insurance. Should I send a dispute letter with a copy of the bill requesting that they prove that they treated me what treatments was done etc. I don't want to be taken advantage of.

    2. Also I received a separate bill from the hospital reflection and zero balance. Now a month later they are trying to bill me $200 and something odd dollars. Should I dispute this bill because I have a previous bill stating $0. Any suggestions?

Would this debt fall under a written contract debt?

Are your doctors and hospital "in" your PPO or HMO plan? If so, their contract with your insurance company spells out what they can charge the insurance company, and what they can charge you.

    Thanks for the reply -

Since it was a hospital I am not sure but I am assuming that the doctors were in my PPO Plan I guess I should check. But still need to know if I should dispute the bills for the doctor's I don'd recall treating me. Should I make them provide evidence that they provided me with a service?

Doctors are the worst aren't they? I remember when I went into the emergency room at my local hospital with god knows what (didn't have insurance, had no job at the time so I knew Medicaid would pick up the slack, at least most of it)...had been throwing up for 2 days straight and had this shooting pain in my abdomen and back. As I sat in the room with an IV in my arm, this doctor came in and took my blood pressure and listened to my heart and asked me what was wrong with me, etc, etc. I told him, and then he left, couldn't have been with me for more than 10 minutes. Then almost 2 hours passed, he never came back, and then finally a different doctor came and took care of me. I asked where the other one had gone and he told me, 'shift change.' Wonderful. Anyway, about 2 months later I get a bill from this doctor that I only saw for 10 minutes in the amount of $225. Can you believe this? I refused to pay it (I could have taken my own blood pressure fo god's sake), and he threatened to send the bill to a collection agency and trash my credit (*L I already did that all by myself)...so more time passes and I just decided to pay it. I sent him a check for the entire amount with a note with F*CK YOU written on it in large red letters. He cashed the check and I always got a kick out of wondering how he reacted to the note. Sorry, not really relevant to the credit board, but I wanted to share my story of how sh*tty some doctors can be. If you only saw two doctors, then you (or your insurance) should only pay for two. Good luck to you!

Yes, make them provide you with evidence of their services.
