Medical Bills on reports-when?

I've been getting a bill from a doctor since last April. I have 2 different insurances and they only billed to one. I have provided them with insurance information for both policies - repeatedly. Each month I call them and every month I get another bill telling me that they are referring me to their attorney... and this is all over $29.00.

I'm wondering how long it is before doctors put you into collection and mar credit reports (I'm in PA, dr is in MD)... I know I could pay the $29, but I already pay insurance premiums for 2 insurance policies and the 2nd policy hasn't been billed yet and will pay most of that $29.

I know it might sound stupid to get my weenie toasted over $29, but this has been going on for like 8 months and I just don't understand why they refuse to bill my other insurance (and they do accept my 2nd insurance, so that's not an issue).

Suggestions?? (besides driving down to Maryland and holding their hand while they fill out the paperwork to submit to insurance #2???) I don't want a collection account going on my credit 'cuz I'm 3 freakin' points away from the 700 club and that will surely blow it for me!!!!!!! <G>

I have a suggestion. Pay it. If they report it or send it to a ca, you won't hit 700 soon. It isn't worth it for $29.00

Pay it and then bill your insurance company. It's not worth the hassle.

    Thanks for your input.

I've decided to give it one more try - sending a certified letter with the insurance information (every other time I just called - this is my first letter). If that doesn't do it, then I'll just pay the 29 bucks and be done with it.

I know it's a small amount, but it's just the principal of the thing, ya know? Their billing department is either disorganized or lazy. =-(

Yes, it is the principal, however, your sending a letter and dragging it on a little longer to make your point, may come back to haunt you. I still say just pay it, but if you want to risk the collection account over it, go right ahead. I wouldn't.
