I recently ran my credit report for the first time and found a spotless record -- except for one collection posted two years ago from a doctor. The collection was less than $250, the bill was disputed with insurance, and it was around the time I was moving so things got a bit lost, but I do remember paying it promptly once I received the initial notice from the CA.

The CA reported it anyway. Happy Holidays :-/ One of the reporting agencies is showing it as paid, another is showing it unpaid, and I didn't check the third yet.

What's the best way to proceed here?

-- Should I approach the CA and ask them to report the correct info that the account was paid to the reporting agency?
-- Do I also nicely ask the CA if they would remove the line?
-- Or do I go directly to the reporting agency and dispute?
-- Or do I just drop it altogether and suck it up?

This is uncharted terroritory for me so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
