Currently I have 3 medical collections on my credit reports in the following amounts: $107 $1320 $320 All three were paid in full about 2 months ago by my attorney. I was in a car accident that wasn't my fault, so the medical bills were paid from the settlement I got in the accident case. These have been paid already, and I am wondering if I should file a dispute with the CRA's to get them to be shown as "PAID", or if I should wait a bit longer to see if it happens on it's own... Also, does anyone think I have a chance at deletion, if I try contacting the creditors? I think my only chance at that would be a good-will letter, since it was in fact, not my fault that I couldn't pay the bills, etc... Should I contact them myself to request a full deletion, or should I have my attorney? Do you think my attorney will even do this, since the case is closed, and I've received my settlement? Also, since my attorney is an accident lawyer, he may not know as much about credit law, and may end up screwing things up... Any suggestions??? -Eric
My suggestion is to call your atty. Usually in accident situations with legal action pending, the care providers sign an agreement to get paid when the case settles. If they did this, then they shouldn't have reported it negatively. Call your atty.
