Has anybody on this board had any luck using debt validation on medical collections? My medical collections are almost 4 1/2 years old and people have told me to use debt validation. I was a little weary at first, but then I finally did send them. The SOL in my state is 6 years. Do you think they would even have proof of this debt after all these years? The collection agency hasn't even contacted me in two years about this debt. But I thought debt validation might be worth a try because the CRA's keep verifying them. Also, is faxing okay? Thanks in advance.

I am told that validation letters work on medical too. I am just about 2 wks into trying this myself with medical, so I am not speaking from experience. My guess is that the older the debt is, the lesser the chance of having an accurate validation, much like regular debt.

And faxing is not a good idea. Send it all CRRR via USPS; it's well worth the money. You need the paper trail because if it ever happens to go to court, CRRR letters hold up stronger than faxes.

Good Luck and keep us posted!

P.S. I am told that this process works best if your medical debt is with a CA.

Yes, but if you do fax it, and the ca does not validate, then will that proof enough for the cra to delete it?

As what was mentioned before, it is better to have a paper trail...so I would advise for you to send your validation letters via the postal service CRRR...

    good luck

Hey, let us know what happens. Probably about 95% of my credit negs (no lie) are medical bills in collections. I'm anxious to know if you have success.....it sounds like you're on the right track, it's the one I'm getting ready to use!!

Best of luck to you, and let us know.

If any of your medical accounts are either NOT YOURS,or were not billed properly to your insurance, or have already been PAID, or if you wish to pay them and get them deleted from your reports, try this:

    http://community-2.webtv.net/YCHANGE/STORAGE/page14.html

It is a program to follow EXACTLY, not a one shot letter.

There's no way of knowing whether they would accept CMRRR either. Faxing is much quicker and cheaper. Alot of people of this board have faxed things.

So why do you keep discussing it. Some fax, some send CRRR, some send priority mail, some put a stamp on it and pray, and others email. What do you want that you keep bumping all these posts?

"If you are faxing your validations, make sure your fax machine prints a transmittal report of each and every successful fax that shows the date, time, fax number and number of pages faxed. This is YOUR proof that the collection agency or debt collector (DC) received your validation request."

The info above is from www.faircreditmovement.com/validation.htm

Everybody keeps saying that CMRRR is better because that way you have proof. Well according to the above info, faxing is proof as well. And no I'm not just doing it to bump either.
