I have a letter from an OBGYN threatening to send a measly 43 bucks to collection if i dont pay in 30 days. the office visit date on the bill is from almost one year ago! she is trying to charge me 22.00 for the office visit, and 21.00 in finance charges. (7 bucks a month for 3 months) I swear I paid the co pay, and insurance took care of the rest. I called and some idiot kept saying the rest wasnt paid by insurance, it was applied to my deductible, and she started explaining what 'co-pay' and 'deductible' meant as if i was as stupid as she was. the call ended with her saying "if this bill is not resolved or paid in 30 days, it will go to collecitons" I said "oh, don't worry, it will be resolved." I've got a great letter written, (if i do say so myself) but I want to put something in there about the ridiculous finance charges. From doing a search and reading, i gather that she CAN charge me finance charges if i signed something giving her permission, right? (i dont remember if/what i signed.) if this is the case, could someone help me with this section of my letter? here's what i have so far: "In regards to the finance charges, I am formally requesting that you provide to me the contract bearing my signature which allows you to charge me almost 30% of the original balance (which I do not believe I owe you in the first place) in finance charges, per month, for three months." how's that sound? can anyone add anything? thanks.
