I had some lab work done last April and my wife said that she sent our insurance information to the lab 4 or 5 times to have them submit it to our insurance provider. Well just checking my online reports today and it looks like the failed to submit the claim and sent the $245 to a collection agency.

How should I proceed with this. They lab is going to resubmit the claim to my insurance company. We want to start shopping for mortgages next week and this will obviously hurt us. Do I send a validation letter to the collection agency? Or do I need to have the medical lab do something?

    Thanks

Call them & request that they have your file PULLED BACK from collections. The same type of error occurred once for me when the dr's office was paid for labwork that they were NEVER able to draw,& I was sent to SmithKline labs that DID everything(only thing was that Cigna saw duplicate claims).

There is a way to "code" your account so that it does generates a dummy billing until resolved.

Customer service should be able to pull it off without a hassle(but do document everything).

    Best wishes,
