Does anyone know if Midland is still in business? I know this is a pretty silly question, but I heard something about they had to go through BK a year or so ago. Also, BTW, does anyone have a web address to check for CA licensing in FL? As always, grateful for the advice.
Welp, I know they've been at least sending letters (or another CA of their same ilk sent a letter on their behalf, rather within the last few months.) They didn't personally respond to the vd request, and the CA which sent the letter on their behalf, originally said they didn't have an account, then decided to continue collection activity on the account that they said that they didn't have.
Well, it seems like they are still around, but with a new name, which just may be on paper only, since I can't find a BBB listing for its alleged parent company. Encore Capital Group, Inc and its subsidiary, Midland Credit Management, Inc.
Darn, I guess it was just wishful thinking. My DH has them on his CR and we have gotten a response from them regarding his DV letter. We got a settlement letter from NCO saying they have taken over the debt. We sent them a DV letter. Nothing yet. They haven't reported to the CRA yet either. Since Midland has transferred the acct (coincidentally) do you think they will bother to validate and if they don't, it should be deleted from CR, right?
Yes, also file a complaint with the better business bureau if they are the same Midland based out of Texas. I did that along with validation letter and it worked for a deletion.
If they sold the account to NCO, then they shouldn't verify... If they've only assigned the account to NCO, then there is a chance that they could still verify it.
Midland is now Midland credit management. They are definetly in business. I just paid off a chargeoff in may to them. I got a letter from them saying everything was paid in full last month. If you need phone number or anything i have it.
