I had a providain secured card when i was a teen thats is showing late payments. I was thinking about how i should dispute this account. It has been closed since 99. It shows the date opened as 10/95. I am 25 years old and turn 26 in november. So the open date means that i had the card opened under my name when i was 15! I have been on my own since i was 15 and have no doubt that i did open the account but i never have lyed about my age on any application. Is it legal to give a minor a credit card with parental consent? It was a secured card which means that i had to open a saving account i believe. I live in houston and the legal age of adult hood is 17. Think i can call them up and compain about the account due the age I opened it at and claim that I was a minor and should of never been given a card?

CAPITAL ONE offers a PARENT APPROVED (CO-SIGN) card to 16 & 17 year olds...(up-to $1,000)...but "LEGAL" age is 18 for your own credit.

DISPUTE IT WITH THE CRA..."I didn't have an account with XXXX CARD COMPANY when I was 15 years old"...PLEASE REMOVE.

I have an account with a CA called RJM that is reporting a date opened of 1/98. My DOB is 8/80 so I was a few months shy of 18. I actually opened the account after I was 18 but it's an error on Orchard Bank's part for changing the open date. Anyway....RJM won't delete....they said I paid on the acct after I was 18 so I'm liable. Any suggestions on what I can do? I sent them a validation letter and they have yet to respond (they have until 5/18).

Providian is real easy to dispute directly through the CRA's right now. Dispute it as not mine. Charlie
