Regarding Au accounts. ------------------------------------------------------------ Rubyjean: It will not be of any benefit to you, as you have no financial responsibility for the Debt.. Rubyjean: You are 100% correct in saying that it does get added to their account history, and it can be useful if it is an established for a period of time, it will help. ------------------------------------------------------------ IF THAT'S NOT A CONTRADICTION! ------------------------------------------------------------ Rubyjean: I am A credit Analyst with MBNA .. Medical Collections, are of no concern I have approve applicants with a 590 score for a Platinum. I very seldom ever decline an applicant for Inquiries showing on their Credit Report..We do not take much Credence in decline for Inquires in excess. The Unpaid Collection and Charge Off,, would need to be explained in full.. ------------------------------------------------------------ HOWEVER ------------------------------------------------------------ I would say you would have a good chance of being apprved for a Platinum.. __________________________________________________ O.K. ...... MBNA BANK: INQUIRIES NO PROBLEM MEDICAL COLLECTIONS NO PROBLEM CHARGE OFFS O.K. WITH A GOOD EXPLANATION MINIMUM SCORE 590 FOR PLATINUM PLUS WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR!
This is interesting... as 6 months ago we couldn't get a loan for a Gateway computer via MBNA with scores in the mid-600's... (computer $1400) yet we had no charge offs, no bk, no collections....and you're saying with charge offs, collections, and/or excessive inquiries, etc. we would have qualified for a Platinum card? Well golly gee whiz I guess it's all in the luck of the application! I'm so glad it's crystal clear now...<g> Sheesh......... Ozzy.
Why would you ask US this if you worked there? Makes no sense to me. http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&postid=120643#post120643
Unless I am reading wrong, RUBYJEAN used to work for MBNA, Big Beacon was just copying and pasting from another post what Ruby wrote. Beacon was pointing out (correct me if I'm wrong) how absurd Ruby's comment sounded "obtaining a Plat. card with a 590 score!"
Sorry. It is way to early for me. Sorry! I thought that s/he was addressing something that Ruby said.
Big Beacon, I don't think there is any contradiction in the information Rubyjean has given here. The first principle to remember here is that MBNA, unlike most other CC issuers, decides applications manually. EVERY application, if I'm not mistaken. So that means... Concerning the benefit of AU accounts, she just basically said that while AU accounts will make a credit report look good, they do not necessarily assure one of getting an individual credit card *if the application is reviewed manually at MBNA* since an AU isn't really responsible for the revolving debt . If several AU accounts tip your score upwards, then it will help wrt automatic approvals with other companies. But at a place like MBNA - a credit analyst would be more cautious about extending revolving credit to a credit report that had 10 AU accounts and no individual revolving positive - v. a credit report that had, say, 5 AU accounts and 5 individual accounts. Any thinking credit analyst would want to know that *you* had a history of paying accounts on time and that can only be known if the account is individual. Concerning a 590 score... I don't think MBNA has a minimum score to go by. Again, each report is looked at manually, and there are quite a few reasons why an otherwise "good" credit report could end up with a 590 score. Concerning all the other issues she raised (i.e. inquiries, paid collections, etc....), it's true. Each credit analyst decides what to do with the app and a lot of it has to do with how well you answer their questions when you call. When I was approved for my loc - now Quantum - I had two accounts with multiple 30 day lates and two accounts that were paid collections (6 years old). Neither issue was mentioned by the credit analyst. What was mentioned was my seeming balance:limit ratio on my Citi account. I had to explain that the report was incorrect as Citi had not updated since September and I offered to have him call Citi to verify the accurate data. He said "ok, I understand" and then approved me on the spot. No other issue was raised and my score was below 660. It all has to tdo with the power of manual consideration - which I personally like a lot better than the auto FICO driven models at other companies.
10+ YEARS PERFECT PAYMENT HISTORY WITH MBNA AMERICA... 6+ YEARS NO CREDIT LIMIT INCREASE... 11.99% TOO HIGH...LOWER RATE??? PERFECT PAYMENT HISTORY SINCE 1978 ON ALL CREDIT... NO PROBLEMS??? YOU GOTTA' BE KIDDING!!! DON'T CALL ON THE PHONE...(CALLED) DON'T DO A CREDIT REPORT...(PULLED ONE) AUTOMATIC INCREASE...(NO) INCREASE EVEN AFTER THEY PULLED...(NO) REDUCE INTEREST RATE...(NO) WHEN THE 1.70% BT RATE IS OVER, I'LL "DISCOVER" IT, IT'S IN THE SOCK DRAWER... THEY NEED ME MORE THAN I NEED THEM!!!
LOL! Sorry, George. It looks like MBNA broke a lot of promises to you. Somehow, this seems so comical to me; just like a Rodney Dangerfield joke would be.
I was denied for the MBNA plat. with a 665 score, no derogs..Revolving at 60% at time of application. Rep told me they like to see it at 25-30%. Told him to kiss my a$$
See if you had a score of 590 you would have gotten it LOL. I can't believe they would approve at that low of a score for platinum no matter what mood the reps are in. Hey tommyy you are getting some decent cards, MBNA can kiss your ---.
I have to agree with a manual app review vs. pure score-- I'm a lender, and I've seen people who've never been late with crap scores, and I've seen people who couldn't pay their bills responsibly if their own mother's lives depended on it with good scores--go figure... Cheers David
Your right Bailey! I have two Citi Plats, the AMEX LOC, and the Great State Farm. Who needs MBNA! Oh ya, I also have Target and the GM card!
Ruby Jean still does work for MBNA, We are not Fico Lenders, every credit application is decisioned by a person, not a Computer.. We do not lend by FICO scores.. And it is true that a platinum Card can be had with a low FICO score and A Platinum Card can be denied with someone having a High FICO..
well i read everyones post and my questions is simple can you or can you not get there "standard" card with a 596?? i applied did not get the instant approval but that has happened to me with others and they sent me the card
George, They did increase my Quantum Card credit limit 2 times after a year upgrading. They also increased Barnes & Nobles MC 2 times after 9 months. They lowered my Quantum Card rates from 13.99% to 11.99% and Barnes & Nobles MC from 14.99% to 10.99%. I had account with MBNA since Dec 99. Ron.
Rubyjean, would you mind dropping me a quick note so we can chat about my MBNA application? I would really appreciate it. Please write to me as soon as you can at jvd@tahoe.com. Thank you so much. -chriscraft
Nothing absurd about it. I just got one with scores of 574, 558, 552. Cap 1 that is with a whopping $500.00 limit!
