Can minor children (17) have a credit card? If so under what circumstances and with whom?

You can't sign a contract without a legal guardian signing, also, which means they can't hold you accountable if you are a minor.

However, I have had a few readers who were able to get credit cards as a minor without their parents' knowledge. (Of course they were usually asking me if the accounts could legally appear on their credit reports since the contract was not enforceable. The answer to that is "yes".)
