Hi, I'm new to this forum and I hope this isn't a repost of a question that has already been asked. My searches, at least, returned nothing relevant. I've recently received a collection notice that has my name misspelled. It's not simply a phonetic equivalent, but actually changes the way my name is pronounced. It's spelled 'Zacharcy' instead of 'Zachary'. I know that in the complex world of collections this seems kind of weak, but the typo has been present on all three letters I have received from them and as far as I know, if it's not my name, it's not my name. In my understanding of the law, which is admittedly lacking, getting names correct seems absolutely vital. Has this happened to anyone else and do you think I have ground to stand on? Thanks for answering what may seem like a stupid question.
The only other identifier is my address which is, of course, correct. I've just checked my credit and it is showing up on there so I think they have it correct in their system, but just don't care. That may bode well for me as they may be the sloppy types, I guess. I'm going to have to do some more research to find out what my options are as the first thirty days have already passed. Anyways, thanks for answering my question.
