Anyone know of a modular home builder that will transport to California with some nice designs?

It seems most of the modular builders that ship out here are HUD certified but not UBC code certified. I don't want to go with HUD code and I don't want a flimsy looking casa either.

I see great designs with modulars but can't find any for Cali..........

    Thanks for sharing Cindy.

I left an email, but I think it is just a dream, a well designed mod here in California.

I can't believe that the East coast has such killer designs on their modulars that can compete architecurally with on site's, but here in Calif the choices are EXTREMELY limited. AND they gouge on price. If you live in cali, price wise you seem to get jacked on everything.

Some kind of hurdle with getting the modulars certified to meet Cali code and the UBC code here. I smell a payoff from the big guys, maybe Pulte, KB, Centex, to make it harder for the modular to meet code here. Funny how housing is so expensive here and well designed mods. aren't available.

I can only find two modular home manufacturers, Genesis, out of AZ and some goofy company called Topsidemodular. Genesis estimated $300k for total modular costs, 2200sq. feet, not including land cost. By the time I bought 1/4 acre here, about 500k and the cost of the mod, it is 800k!!! Top quoted a cost of their mo, 3000 sq. feet of $360k - $390k!!

Incredible. Their designs aren't even that great either. Genesis, which does modulars, doesn't have their best designs for Cali, too hard for them to do.

The other that do mod's here are from the manufacturing family like silvercrest, champion, fleetwood, and although they can meet ubc code, MAYBE, their homes look like manufactured/assembled mobiles. Their plants are focused on HUD/manufactured homes, so that's what your mod. looks like.

These guys are in Corona and Woodland. They mostly make mobiles, but they can build UBC code homes also.

    Thanks Quixote.

I checked these guys out earlier, they can build one stories to meet UBC code, but haven't quite got the approval on two stories yet. Sometime next year......
