I f you sign up for creditexpert and credit watch can you cancel before the 30 days and reuse the free service? Does this change you credit score, when you look at your own report?

    Hi,

It is my understanding that it doesnt, but if you look at your report everyday, it will put 'soft inquiries' on your report, and these soft inquiries will make your report long, and eventually they will tell you the file is too long.

I check my report every 15 days. (I had to force myself to wait that long). :)

Thanks for your reply. I still could use an answer on if you can cancel the free trials then sign up again...seems I read that in a post some where. Also do soft inquiries take points away?

I'm sorry, I answered your question incompletely.

No, soft inquiries don't lower your score.

As for signing up again after free trial, according to posts, you would have to sign up with a different card, or different information to get around that.

I wish I could give you specific posts.

CreditExpert you can sign up again, although you will need to wait a week or so.

CreditWatch, I have not been a to "re"sign-up. Don't think you can.

I was told by an Equifax CSR that they realize their soft inquiries are creating a problem, particularly for subscribers who are using the service every day, so they are going to start purging their softs on a monthly basis. I guess time will tell if this really happens or not. Maybe if enough creditwatch subscribers cancel out of fear that their file is getting too large, they really will fix this flaw. I get 4 Equifax inq. logged each time I pull my report.
