I was paying Mom's AmEx bill online, and checked to see what she was preapproved for this time (last time it was platinum charge card).

It was Blue this time, So I went and got her, sat her down in front of the puter, and she accepted the card, LOL. I filled in the blanks for her.

She got $3,500 CL, 0% for purchases for 6 months, 9.9% transfers for the life of the transfer (she doesn't have any balances, LOL), 12.99% go to. Not bad for 80 yrs old, and didn't believe in credit cards when she moved in with me 6 yrs ago.

I told her we would close the $400 CapOne card and get her $29 deposit back ;)

    Congrats to your mom!.

My brother was also instantly approved for Blue yesterday. They gave him 2k only. 0% for six months and 10.99% after that. He also has Amex starwood 2.4k that got two months ago.

Geo, it's a good feeling isn't it, helping someone else enjoy the priviledges that go with good credit? I got such a kick the first time Mom used her AmEx green at the commissary instead of going through all the rigamarole of writing a check and showing ID etc.

I don't know if your brother needs it or not, but I called immediately after receiving my Blue and requested a higher CL. They asked me how much I wanted. :)

It was "WELL USED" for about 2 years...then everybody on here was getting BETTER deals from AMEX BLUE than I was, so I wanted it too...

DISCOVERCARD "CAVED" after months in the "SOCK DRAWER"...I thought AMEX would do the same...NO SUCH LUCK...

In 6 years I will be at the 30 year mark for "PERFECT" payment history...maybe that $4,500 AMEX and $400 for MBNA will happen???

Caved after 6 months in the sock drawer?

Hey, if they tried to put me anywhere near Goerge's socks, I'd give in a lot earlier.

P.S. - What did they offer you, George?
