Oh goodness Nana do you really want to know?? I have had a terrible day. The mortgage company DID NOT send the loan papers to the title company, I didn't get my final closing costs until 5:00 pm and that was the mort. co fault. Also they are going to overnight Fed Ex the mortgage papers so they won't arrive until tomorrow, we close at 11:00, Fed Ex usually arrives around 11:30. Right now I am having a beer, well lots of them and trying not to think of this awful day:(

Oh, geez, oh, geez..I'm so sorry, Mom!!! I'll tell you my thoughts..I've never been to a wedding where something didn't go wrong (forgotten flowers, cake that fell, mother-in-law that really showed up) and they always were the marriages that worked..so I'm saying this for you..same thing..this is a sign of how well it is going to work!!!

Now, what on earth was their excuse for not getting the papers out yesterday as promised?

Have a beer for me, k?

    Thanks Nana and Dog.

I am not worried about Fed Ex getting there, I am worried that they didn't send it overnight, it's not like they haven't done this before:(

    MOM - 2 Royal Flushes 1 Casino

Mom, I went to Bellagio on Memorial day and hit a ROYAL FLUSH (Diamonds) on a quarter video poker slot - paid $1000.
I went to the dollar video poker machine at Bellagio (where I stay), I hit my SECOND ROYAL FLUSH (Diamonds again). Paid $4000.

    That was luck!
    Snaaaaaappppp!

There you go - my good luck streak snapped to you.
    Everything is fine now. :)

    Hey Mom,

You keep drinking those beers and you won't be able to sign those mortgage papers in the morning :)

You are bringing back fond memories....(off in a daydream)....NOT!

I know this is all nerve racking, but well worth it! So forget about today and revel in your closing tomorrow. Just keep saying, "It will all be over soon" and "There's no place like home."

    Congrats and keep us posted!

    Don't worry , Momof3.

Believe it or not, this IS "smooth" for real estate. The things you're describing the day before the closing are "par for the course".
If the docs don't arrive until 11:30, the title company will simply hold off for 30 minutes.

Trust me, this is NOTHING!! You'll be okay.

    Cheer up..this will pass

We had a horrible closing day too. We were told we would need about $3K to close and on closing day, we were told we need about $12K!!!! Can you imagine? They wanted to hold 11 mos worth of taxes and oops, they forgot there was a local tax in addition to our county tax!!!! I thought the deal was surely off. Our loan docs were held up. The day was so stressful, I went into labor. I am not kidding, right in the middle of closing--my water broke. It was an unbelievable day... I think the stress was just overwhelming...But it passes, and everything's okay now. Sending happy homemaking dust your way, Mom!!!

And in the spirit of "relieving Nana's and Mom's anxiety over closing day", a good Realtor is worth her weight in gold (sorry had to toot my horn).

I once closed at the county jailhouse with armed guards, a glass partition and the buyer's attorney and the escrow people present. He'd gone out rabble rousing the night before and got picked up on a "drunk and disorderly".

Think that was a sterssful day for him? You betcha, but nothing like a few jail bars were going to keep me from closing!

Once closed ahouse with my sellers (a cop and his family) while he arrested a speeder just outside the title company's door. His wife and I kept running out to the parking lot to get his signature on each document.

Astressful closing day? Yeah Buddy! But it closed!

    Have no fear.

    Mom,

Closings being delayed a day is a totally normal occurance in this field. Think of it like this, The closer your closing is to the end of the month the less prepaid interest you'll have to come up with. Good luck and have fun moving.

    Re: Cheer up..this will pass

Hope, LOL!!! Speaking of signatures, I was looking over all the documents we signed at closing...you could easily see when I was having a contraction, because my signature looks horrible!! I'm surprised we made it.. I delivered four hours later. I'll probably always have nightmares about closing. I literally left my apartment, started having contractions in closing but managed to get through it, then went straight to the hospital, and two days later, I came home to my new house...my family and in-laws had kindly taken care of moving our stuff. Everyone seems to have a wild closing tale to tell.
