Hello, I have quite a few marks on my credit report from debts that I incurred while starting a business in california and trying to support a young family. All my debts are from medical bills, utilities, and then from credit cards That I attained to pay for these bills. We have now worked ourselves out of debt and all of our accounts are paid in full. Now here's the dillema: I feel like I have taken care of my responsibilities in paying off what I owe to these companies but I would like to clean up my report. I understand that if you dispute an Item on your report and the collection agency doesnt respond in 30 days then they have to remove it. I like the term "re-investigate" better than dispute. I have called a couple of the creditors to get a little sympathy in hopes that they would take it off my report and got the big "NO CAN DO"! I have had some good results from one hospital that I wrote a letter to, they responded and said they would contact the collection agency and request that they remove that account from the report. No luck with the other ones. I guess bottom line is my struggle is with re-investgating or disputing something I know is accurate. any thoughts or comments would be helpfull....Thanks

PAYMENT IN FULL---PROVIDED YOU REMOVE THE NEGATIVE ACCOUNT

    NO REMOVAL--NO PAY

Thanks George. I think that is my problem. See I already paid in full on all my accounts. I didnt negotiate with them to not report the negatives. Now its all about to dispute or not to dispute that is the question.

    DISPUTE with the CRA'S

Or send a letter asking for removal of the account...THEY GOT PAID..."WHY DO I HAVE TO SUFFER ANY LONGER"?

IT IS NOT ILLEGAL TO REMOVE ANY ACCOUNT.

IF IT WAS ILLEGAL, EXPERIAN AND AMEX BLUE WOULD BE IN TROUBLE FOR TOTALLY REMOVING MY AMEX BLUE ACCOUNT WHEN I ASKED THEM TO CHANGE N/A CREDIT LIMIT TO $15,500 CREDIT LIMIT!!!

    Hi Tcountry,

    Welcome to the board.

    Gotta quick question for you.

Even if a guy steps up to the plate and takes care of responsibility, is it fair that he should continue to pay for the next 7 years?

    Is that fair?

    ???

Nothing new here TCountry. We know exactly how you feel. We see this all the time, and most of us felt the same way when we came here.

We felt that since we were "bad boys/girls", we must now "pay the price" of credit hell for the next 7 years because, "we deserve it" for our misbehavior.

This is a product of guilt, forced down our throats by a credit industry who couldn't possibly care less whether you live or die, just as long as they get their money first.

If we are to attack these problems head on, with the dedication, steadfastness and tenacity needed to be successful here, we MUST throw off this preposterous, industry imposed, "mantle of guilt".

Start convincing yourself, that you stepped up like a man, and paid your debt, PLUS INTEREST, I assume. Therefore your creditors are out nothing, including their usury.

Now, it's time to clean up the mess from past mistakes, and remember them so they're not repeated.

Now it's time to move beyond your [perceived] irresponsible history, the one you fixed, and live free.

Because that my friend, is what you deserve.

So if I have to be just a little "unfair" to a BRUTALLY UNFAIR industry, well ... tuff teets, as my old prof. used to say.

    :)

1*That's something few of them have.
2*You can approach this from a moral angle and get eaten alive by them with bogus over charges on your insurance and loans or you can use and or enforce your legal rights so that you're not just another victim of their unethical and or illegal actions.

Do you feel it's OK that you get bilked with higher cost than I pay simply because you didn't fight the legal battle but I did?????
