I e-mailed a dispute to a CA on Sept. 2 for an entry that was reinserted in my Equifax file, they reported a different account number. I e-mailed it with a delivery confirm, which I received back from their server, to the VP of the CA. Today I pull my Experian and it has been reported there as well, taking me down 6 points. I am mad as hell and want to send another e-mail now that they owe me $1,000 for continued collection activity without validating. Any thoughts on this?? TIA WALLST
Hey WallSt. We need a little more info. Did they add the "in dispute" notation to the Exp entry? How old / big is the alleged debt? Any other info. that you think might help us help you.
No dispute notation, it is for $87, cable company from 1996. I also e-mailed validation request. WALLST
Wait about 2 weeks then contact the CRAs. They always forget to send out the 5 day notice of reinsertion. then you tell them they violated the FCRA and by law they have to delete the account. They argue but in the end I always win.
It was reinserted in Equifax under a DIFFERENT account number, and Equifax said they didn't have to send me notification because of this. They reinvestigated and it was verified. I then sent a validation e-mail to the CA on Saturday, then yesterday the ca put it on my Experian report. It had never been on Experian before. I am pissed as hell now because the e-mail was verified by the CA's server as received by their VP, and I see this as continued activity during validation. I am wondering if I should send another e-mail now with a request for $2,000(2 violations continued coll. activity & not marking the account in dispute) or just wait the 30 days for validation. WALLST
Got a letter from them today, we are stopping collection activity and will contact all 3 CRA's tgo remove this account from all records and files on your credit report. Please allow 6-8 weeks yada yada yada. GAME OVER! WALLST
Good job. Did you get an actual letter, or was it email? If email, send them another email and tell them you would like a copy of the UDF they sent to the cra's as well as a letter comfirming the email. If you got an actual letter on their letterhead, fax that to the cra's. It should be deleted within a week.
