Well I've been doing more credit limit stuff this morning since the Citi increase. Ultimate Electronics: $800 increase to $4,800. Zero balance. Mervyn's $200 limit -- no increase, zero balance. Home Depot -- $1,250 limit -- automated system asked me for the last four digits of my social and the amount of increase I wanted. I chickened out and hung up. Home Depot gave me a card a few months ago with no inquiry at all and I didn't want to generate one today. Does anyone know if they will pull an inquiry if I go through with this? Capital One -- $1,750 limit (just increased a couple of months ago), no increase (didn't expect one but I thought I'd try). Zero balance.
Home Depot gave you a card w/ no inquiry??? How did that happen? I was thinking about getting one of their cards. I need to buy a lawnmower and thought that this might be a good way to further build my credit. How did you apply originally?
They did a promo inquiry on TU at the beginning of the year and later I got a preapproval in the mail. I activated the account on their website using the preapproval number on the mailing. There was never an additional inquiry on any report from Home Depot/Monogram.
