GM, Ford Announce More Zero-Percent Financing Get Quote, Company Info: GM, F, DCX .c The Associated Press DETROIT (Oct. 1) - General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. on Tuesday each announced their latest zero-percent financing offers. Ford said it will offer zero-percent financing on most 2003 Ford brand trucks and sport utility vehicles. The incentives, which took effect Tuesday, are available through Jan. 2. Interest-free financing now is available on nearly the entire line of Ford brand cars, trucks and SUVs. ''Tough trucks are our heritage and what we do best,'' Ford division president Steve Lyons said. ''With the attractive customer incentives, we expect a strong truck season in the fourth quarter.'' GM on Tuesday announced zero-percent financing for five years on most new 2002 and 2003 GM passenger cars and minivans. The world's largest automaker also is offering cash back on 2002 and 2003 trucks. ''We believe that this program will be very effective at bringing consumers into our showrooms,'' said Bill Lovejoy, group vice president of GM North America vehicle sales, service and marketing. GM will continue to offer financing rates of zero percent for 36 months, 2.9 percent for 48 months and 3.9 percent for 60 months or cash rebates up to $2,000 for qualified buyers on 2003 model Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Oldsmobile and Pontiac cars and trucks. The programs runs through Oct. 31. DaimlerChrysler AG is offering zero-percent financing or cash back on most of its 2003 Chrysler vehicles through Oct. 31. The incentive programs, introduced after demand dropped following the Sept. 11 attacks, have been the trademark of the industry to boost auto sales without damaging its earnings.
