I had a question regarding a judgement listed on my Equifax report. It lists a judgement filed back in 1998. I paid this and settled this last year. However, it does not say "PAID" on the report. I have recently disputed this online as "not mine". Is this the right thing to do as opposed to having them change it to "settled or Paid" ? This is what the collection agency told me to do to fix my credit after paying them.. and that they would not respond. Also, my question is.. when I dispute this as "not mine", does the CRA go to the courts to verify this judgement or do they go to the collection agency? Thanks in advance..
Re: more quick questions.. hel .. but usually the courts will take too long to verify, is this correct? The collection agency told me that they would not respond when the CRA contacted them.. i settled this judgement with them already and they said they wouldn't update the line, but just to dispute it later.. so what does this mean?? will it be corrected eventually when disputed??
Re: more quick questions.. hel If they keep their word, then when you dispute it and they don't verify it, it will be deleted from your record.
Re: more quick questions.. hel .. but your previous message you said they verify judgements with the court, so how does the collection agency fall into this? If they verify the judgement w/ the collection agency, then as long as they don't respond I'm okay.. but if they verify w/ the courts as you said in the other message, then there is still the possibility the judgement will be verified..
