    MaryPc & DanceRat,

You both used Countrywide. How were their fees? Did they have an origination fee? The loan process in general...did it take long? Did they turn around your committment letter fast?

A co-worker used them for her morgtage & she's pretty smart. Does not pay an extra cent for anything. Now it appears that you are giving them high marks as well, so I may take a look at getting my mortgage thur them. Anything, anything at all I should be aware of, please share.

    Thanks

    Was-Mortgage?- 30yr Fixed Rates

I am finally closing tomorrow. I got my settlement statement today for review and it was fine. I went through my credit union for my loan, and they were wonderful. I was scared about credit unions because of what I had read, but my loan officer really went above and beyond. I didn't shop around, but I did lock in at 6.5 for 30 years and my closing costs came to 3122.15 for a 95,000 home, which after carefully perusing and comparing against other loans looks fine to me. I don't feel I got junk fees, etc. I did put 20% down but I am thinking about taking out a fixed 10 year HEL to get that money back and do some home improvement. I would like to know who has the best rates for fixed rate HEL. Anyone? I was quoted by my CU for 8.5 10 year, 250.00 fee. I was hoping because rates are so low right now, to get about a 7.5. I am probably dreaming.
