If you have proof that the stuff had been paid up, you can file suit and collect $1000. These are statutory damages, so all you need to show to the court are the facts, and no need to prove that you suffered damages BECAUSE OF THIS PARTICULAR ENTRY on your report.

You are going to have to file the suit, unfortunately. Once you win the judgment use it as leverage to negotiate deletion from the reports.

Okay I guess I will wait for a good 6 months. My plans are to use 6k of the 20K saved to pay off most of the credit card debt. According to equifax's score model if I pay 3200 of my credit card debt. My scores would range from 632 to 689. And since my Experian report is by far the best I am sure that will put atleast 1 bureau over the 700 mark. I just pulled Transunion last night and that is actually at 581. We will also pay off my wifes credit card debt completely since her scores are lower than mine.. So just maybe I can get every report up to about 620 by just paying off a big chunk of my credit cards. Yes I am already feeling the stress piling on regarding just finding a home that is affordable and in a relatively nice neighborhood without traveling 40 miles north or south. I also tried 2 mortgage calculators and both claim that I can afford a home in the MAX range of 194k to 219K. If it were up to me I would love to buy my first home in the 120k range but again that is not a possibility. Daycare for an infant in my area I have heard is around 300 a week which of course will be another huge expense. Saving grace for me is my mother runs a day care in Mitchellville MD which is about 25 miles away from me. So if we could locate a home in a near by neighborhood for a good price then we would have to junp at it ..Anyway thanks again and I appreciate all of the info given.......
