I haven't made the call yet....but is it possible to make arrangements to just pay the interest on my mortgage..until I can catch up on some past due bills? Has anyone ever done this?
What type of loan do you have? If you have an option ARM, you might be able to start making interest-only payments without even talking to the bank. Otherwise, it's still possible they may work with you, but don't expect them to be jumping at the chance to help out. Their decision will depend on a lot of different factors, and just needing to "catch up on some past bills" probably won't be a good enough reason to convince them they should get paid later.
