Hi all, I am trying to clean up my credit that my ex-husband completely trashed. We divorced 5 years ago. We owned a home that because of its rural location, would take a long time to sell. I decided to move back to my hometown to raise our daughter.... Per the divorce decree, we were to split the mortgage, unless one of us personally lived there - then that person would be repsonsible. Also, if we had renters, that would cover the pymt, and we would split the cost if that did not cover it. Well, for a while he paid and then he moved renters in....collected the rent and never paid the mortgage. Finally, the mortgage company contacted me and I paid to avoid foreclosure proceedings, and by luck, the property was purchased. This was Dec 2004. The credit report reads "Paid account/was 150 days past due date". Is it worth trying to contact the company explain the situation, and ask them to remove the 150 days past due as a goodwill? Will any bad come from it? Or should I just let it sit there? I also noticed that it was transferred from the original bank in 2002 and the original bank notes: Description: Account transferred or sold Real estate mortgage Last Report on August, 2005 Balance $0 Current status 30 days past due Past Due Amount $0 WHo should I contact to clear that up? Obviously it is not currently 30 days past due, as it was transferred in 2002 and the property was paid off in 2004 Will getting that changed also affect my score. Thanks to all.
What are your scores? What other negative items do you have? If you choose to dispute, you might want to be careful that you don't get the whole mortgage TL removed, since even with the lates, it might be helping more than hurting.
Hi, The scores are TU 623 EQ 600 EX 652 The negative items are things that he was suppose to pay - I know I was young and stupid. One charge off, that I have recently paid instead - working to get that taken off. A Credit union loan that has been charged off, but he told me that a judgement had been made, but I was not mentioned at all. It shows as a charge off. No public records. Everything in my name only/responsibility is paid on time or has been paid off in full (ie car loans, etc) Thanks
