Question for the successful: Have you relied mostly on the CA validation method, or do you first hop into disputing through the CRA? I am about to embark on my own journey towards improved credit, and I have read about many individuals on this forum who have gotten mass deletions simply with CRA disputes. Validation seems to be the most 'thorough' way of attacking each negative, but I would like to confirm the value of this method with people who are nearing or have already reached their credit goals. Additionally, has anyone here had success getting a charged off Citibank (or ASSOC/CITI) credit card tradeline removed through either method?
i think deletion method depends on what it is, how old it is, and experience w/the company. validation through the CRA seems to be the easiest since it can be done online. dealing with the company, to me, seems to be the biggest pain in the butt, especially if the account is closed, paid, included in bankruptcy, because there seems to be less "hurry" on their part. (i know i dread it when i have to deal w/validation letters)
Can you give me your personal advice on this specific situation, then? -Citibank credit card, opened in 2000, charged off in 2001 -Debt is about $1000 -Received a couple of CA letters (the last one as recently as two weeks ago), although there is no CA listing on any of my reports What do you think?
