Hi all, I have just noticed that the Motley Fool is offering credit cards now: http://www.applyonlinenow.com/us/motleyfool/ I was wondering if there would be anyone here who would have already applied to one of these. I was wondering what kind of credit limits they have and what kind of score would be required to qualify for the 8.9% 6 months 0 % APR offer. More generally, what cards should I try to get with scores around 700? I am just finishing payoff balances so my scores are going up and I want to use that to get more credit at better rates and hopefully with 12 months at 0.00% Does anyone know who offers instant approval on these kind of cards, i.e. approvals that would be based mainly or uniquely on the credit score? I am going to wait for another 2 weeks, until my fresh low balance gets reported but I wouls like to gather some information beforehand.
A friend of mine has gotten some amazing offers in the mail from Citibank recenly. Over a year at the intro rate, and I believe the rate was 0%. Maybe not, maybe 2.9% or so, but it was definitely for over a year. Another interesting offer I've seen is from Chase, with their Subaru rewards platinum card. The offer is for 9 months at 0%. That one's on the Net at chase.com or at credit_card_applications_center.com. I really think you can do better than MBNA with your score. Especially better go-to rates. Some of the better rates will come to you in the mail, like from Citibank, Chase or Amex (Blue). You never know with Amex online what your rate will be for their tiered-rate cards, so wait for them to offer you a rate. Why not check out Chase or Bank of America online? Sometimes Chase has really good go-to rates online. Bank of America tends to offer "life-of-the-balance" rates on balance transfers. As does Amex, come to think of it.
Sorry, I didn't notice that 8.9% go-to rate on the Motley Fool card. That would be hard to beat, although I've seen better online before from Chase.
Hi, Thanks for your suggestions. I never actually receive any offers in the mail for a few different reasons: my credit history is very short and I have changed addresses a lot in the last 2 years. Also my score has just gone up a lot recently as I paid down my balance so they probably haven't got wind of it yet Also, I feel that my scores are kind of artificially high. I only have one account in my report and it's one for which I am an authorized user ( 14k credit limit). That is why I am looking for cards for which the approval is based just on scores if there are such cards. Also, does anyone know how I can increase my chances of getting offers in the mail? Thanks, Ioan
Got mine. 7.99% fixed on purchases and cash advances. 0.00% on cash advances until sept. http://www.fool.com/landing/card/landing.htm?source=iedcclnk020115
While MBNA's offered rates may not be that great, it's VERY easy to negotiate rates and get them lowered once you've been with them for a little while. As for service, I LOVE MBNA. They've always treated me the best and have always bent over backwards to help me out. That's why I've kept them for 8 years now.
just got the motley fool card with a $7500 limit and 7.9% apr. My scores are around 700 I think. It took a few days{3 days I think} to get approved though.
