Some of you have mentioned the Motley Fool board on credit repair. I signed on to their investment site a few weeks ago to research some investments. Since then, I am getting 4 -5 calls per day from con men pitching various bogus investments. Has anyone else had this problem? I am not sure the calls are related to signing in there, but it is the only connection I can make. The calls started the day after going to their site and I haven't looked for this info elsewhere. You know the stuff - commodities trading with 0% risk. 100% guaranteed in three months - no risk. All high preesure - you must invest now. It won't be available later today.
That's scary. I have not signed onto the investment board, but I do frequent the consumer/credit card board (which I think is more relevant for credit repair posts). I suggest e-mailing MFs web support and asking them to take your name off of their "shared information" lists and tell them that you are being spammed (via telephone). You also may want to check your user preferences (click on "my fool") and disable the preference to be contacted for various offers. Either way MF web support needs to know about this. I did agree to be contacted by some companies in exchange for free info - but they have all been professional and ethical.
I've been onto Motley Fool for about a month now and have had no probs. I'd check other places or ask them next time they call where and who they got your number from
It's hard to say exactly why you're being spammed, but here's an idea: check and see if your state has a "no-call" list. If so, you can sign up and then it becomes illegal for anyone to make unsolicited phone calls to you. Tennessee enacted this a couple of years ago. I signed up and it works quite well. Good luck.
