I'm non-citizen and have about $5000 in credit card debt. I don't know how long I will be gone for since I need a visa to come to USA. I have a relative who can help me make monthly payments. But would the credit card companies demand all payment in full? I'm just tempted to run up all my limit and say hell with it. Just kidding.
My guess is that if you skipped out on them the cc company will thrash your credit file. Of course depending on how you set things up the collection agency will have a tough time tracking you down unless of course you used someone's address and in that case that person will get the blunt of the calls and letters. But if you owe you owe and you should do the right thing. Best regards, Mirage
The credit card companies don't care if you are in or out the country. For as long as the minimum monthly payments are made, nobody will ask for anything. Just make sure your friend sends the payments every month and to the correct account. When you come back, you will have a report with one account in good standing.
