    Hi Everyone.

Because of getting ready to move, I haven't been around much lately. Momof3, Roni and NanaC, I tip my hat to you. The three of you managed to post regularly while you were in the process of packing and moving and I don't know how you did it! And we're not even buying a house! We're just renting.

Initially, I mentioned that hubby and I had applied for two places, both in excellent locations. The owner of one of the town homes accepted us but we ended up turning down the offer. As it turned out, the place needed a lot of work and the landlord wasn't willing to make any upgrades.

Turn about is fair play, I guess, because the owner of the second town home rejected us. Apparently, there were several applicants and someone else won out.

So Hubby and I resumed our search and came across a three-bedroom, two-bath ranch-style house that we liked a lot. When we came to look at it, it was obvious that several others shared our interest. However, we decided to submit an application anyway.

This time, we were the lucky ones! Our new landlord told us that he had received over 60 calls regarding the house and 25 applications were submitted. It took over a week for him to make his decision, though, and the wait felt like an eternity.

Since our credit isn't perfect, I'm surprised we were the landlord's first choice. I guess he must have liked us. He and hubby hit it off right away. Our landlord's father recently retired from the same place where hubby works and that gave us an enroad.

Regardless of the reason, we're happy. What a relief it is not to have to scan ads and arrange appointments to see places.

Our move-in date is a week from today. hehehe Anyone have boxes? We sure could use them! We actually have possession of the place now but couldn't arrange the move any sooner.

To all of you who offered words of encouragement and support, many hugs and thanks. Your kindness has meant a lot and I really appreciate it. There are so many terrific people here!

Take care and I'll be posting more regularly after the move.

    Thanks again.

Congrats! We just sold our house and built a new one. Closing on the sale Oct 19 @ 10:00AM and closing on the new one 10/19 @ 12:00 noon!

I hate moving, but it's all worth the hassle ... :)

    John,

Congrats to you, too! Enjoy your new place.

We would sure like to buy the house we're moving into but, at around $250, that's more than we can afford right now. The next time we move, though, it will be to our own place.

Some day I'll learn to proofread.

In my previous post, I said $250. Obviously, that should have been $250000.

    Mother2,

You'll get a place, I'm sure. Already you've made lots of headway with your credit.

The repair process takes time and patience and we're all short on both. I've started working on my credit in March of 2000 and I'm still not finished.

Experian is the toughest. They won't budge at all! And I'm still fighting with Equifax over a couple things, too.

You'll get your house and I'll be eager to hear all of the details when you do. :)

So good to hear from you Donna. I am glad in the end you found something you really liked. Good luck in your new home and have fun packing. I have tons of boxes where should I send them LOL?????

    Thanks much, Momof3.

And, yes, I bet you do have plenty of boxes. Before the move, you have to worry about getting all of the boxes; and after the move, you've gotta worry about what to do with them all.

What we like most about the place is the big backyard. Our dogs will have plenty of room to romp and play.

    Take care and thanks again.

If you have Dollar General stores in your area, go ask them what day they get their delivery truck. They unload right there in the store, and will give you all the boxes you want. I got all mine there when I moved.

    Good tip, Breeze. Thanks.

Here in Southern Cal, we don't have $General stores, but I'm going to try my luck at a couple of grocery stores in our neighborhood. Perhaps they will have boxes.
