Had Capital One charge-off (4/1996) on 3 CR's. EXP and EQU removed but TU verified twice, and last time they changed the balance from $670 to $21.. probably because if they made it $0 the reportng period would have been up 4/2001 (paid charge-off - 5 yrs. NY law) and if unpaid it would have to stay for 7 yrs (until 4/2003). Anyway, Mr. Cooke is really as nice to speak with as everyone has been saying!! I PFB'd yesterday, got an email response from Mr. Cooke to call him and spoke with him today. He is going to have my TU entry removed and is going to call me back about a CL increase I asked for. I had called Cap One last month and rep. said no CL inc. on "my type of account". Mr. Cooke said he will see what he can do and call me back. Even if he doesn't give me an increase I am just thrilled about getting this entry removed from TU!!!!!!!!!! Why couldn't Sallie Mae have a Mr. Cooke?????
Do you think he would help me with a CH13 Cap One account that has consistently reported incorrectly? I was just thinking that they might be more willing to help if the account was still active. Lisa
So You're who he was talking to when I tried to call! LOL I didn't get everything that I wanted, but I now have opportunities for other things in a couple of months.
LOL! Lisa, I think it couldn't hurt to speak to him. In my case, they gave me an opportunity in 2000 to open a new card and get my charged-off balance transferred to it with the "promise" that they would update the CRA's to report "paid in full". I hadn't to bother even checking the reports back then to see if they did it or not. When I recently disputed the charge-offs EXP & EQU removed them but TU didn't. BUT NOW THEY WILL!! LOL!
Mr. Cooke might be nice but he also pulled a hard inquiry on my EXP today... : ( I am not sure if that is for the CL increase or to check that EXP and EQU really removed my old listing as I had told him they had. Regardless, I don't think he should have pulled one. For -3 points should I get him to remove it??? "Just another day in the life of a creditnet junkie..."
OK... so no go on the CL increase but Mr. Cooke will have TU delete my old charged-off listing and will send me a letter to that effect. Fine by me...
kittiekat3, Did you ask to have your old chargeoff trans to a new capitalone card in 2000? How do you directly get to mr.cooke in pfb? Do you think they would trans my old one to a new one?
I didn't ask in 2000 for them to transfer my old debt to a new card... what happen was I disputed the charge-off with the CRA in 6 or 7/2000 and it came back verified. In a few weeks after that Cap1 sent me a pre-approval to have my charged-off balance transferred to a new card in order to rectify situation and that after a certain period of time they would report old account as paid-in-full. When I pulled my credit reports in 1/2002, I noticed that it was off of EXP and EQU, but not TU and TU was reporting a balance of 679 and charged-off. I PFB'd Cap1 and got a reply from Mr. Cooke who looked into it and will have it removed. He is going to send me something in writing and said it should take 60-90 days, but probably before that. I don't know if you can request them to do this as it was offered to me, I didn't ask. Couldn't hurt to PFB them, Mr. Cook seems willing to work with people from what I've read (Even though he didn't give my my increase!! LOL)
