Mr. Francis? My brother is in the same bad-credit boat as I am. I planned on helping him once I get my credit cleaned up, but I've got to do something about a particular CA that's been harrassing my family. Problem is, I don't know which CA that is! The CA keeps calling my mother's house, demanding to speak to my brother. When my mother tells the CA that he hasn't lived there in over a year, the CA accuses her of "lying", "hiding him" and threatens to sue. The CA won't tell her the name of the company he works for, and keeps calling after she tells him not to. She told me that the man identifies himself as "Mr. Francis" and has a heavy accent. I know that's not very much info, but I was wondering if that name would ring a bell with anyone. I want to nail these bastards for harrassment, but if the CA wont say what agency he is calling from, what can we do? Any suggestions?
Re: Mr. Francis? Mr Francis? Heavy accent? Yeah, like that adds up! Did "Mr Francis" leave a phone number? If he did, maybe you can use the "reverse lookup" phone directory and find out who it really is. HTH
Re: Mr. Francis? Nope, no phone number. I know it's probably not his real name, but I thought maybe he had harrassed someone else using that name. I had to ask. I really don't know what to do!
Re: Mr. Francis? Hang in there. I'm sure one of our resident gurus will come up with an idea. Since these guys aren't the brightest bulbs on ye ole Christmas tree, I'm sure he's been "Mr Francis" to someone else as well.
Re: Mr. Francis? Well my mother was thinking of getting caller ID, but I told her not to bother. Whenever a CA calls my house, it comes up as "univailable" or "out of area". What a surprise, lol. I didn't even think of *69...I'll tell her to try that, thanks.
Re: Mr. Francis? Never mind, I missed a key sentence, she's already told them not to call. DemPooches
Re: Mr. Francis? Here's my solution. If you have your brother's credit report, start calling all the CAs listed and ask for Mr Francis. If you hit the right CA, you can send them a C&D letter with a threat of lawsuit. Or just take them to court - they don't need to know how you got their information. You might want to call from a pay phone or use a calling card, though, so they can't capture a phone number from you. You could always ask the phone company to run a list of rec'd calls at your mother's place, too.
Re: Mr. Francis? I've had to tell my mother that when she gets a call from someone asking for me just to say that they have the wrong number and don't give them her name or any info. Once she said that I didn't live there anymore, or even that she knew who I was, they kept harassing her but they stopped eventually I assume because they had "the wrong number". I know this doesn't help actually nailing their a$$ to the wall but they did stop calling. I figured if it was anyone that I really wanted to speak to they would have my real number already. Just a thought.
Re: Mr. Francis? She could try reporting it to her phone company as harrassment. She doesn't need to say who they are calling, just that they keep calling for someone who doesn't live there, and won't stop.
Re: Mr. Francis? Thanks guys...I will suggest your ideas to my mother. I'll let everyone know once I find out what CA "Mr. Francis" works for!
