My bank asked who my employer is for my checking account. Can creditors access this information (through skiptracers or some other method) ?
Your credit reports also list employment data, the bank does have a right to ask about your employer. So, yes creditors can access this information through your credit report, if it is updated to list current employer. Creditors will usually supply this updated employer info when you apply for credit.
Not necessarily. I became disabled two years ago and since then on Social Security. Applied for credit cards since then, and noted that I'm retired/disabled on the applications. No mention of my new status, all three still list my old employer.
Creditors do not always update the personal information, sometimes it jsut slips by......per your example.
