I just received this months statement for my CapOne "Platinum" joke card. I have a 2600 credit limit - my last increase was for a whopping 200. I forgot about my yearly fee - $39. It was posted to my account this month. I called customer service and the rep told me all he could do is cut the fee in half or reduce my apr two points. I asked why he could not waive my fee AND reduce my apr. He would not budge. Then I told him it was not worth me keeping the card b/c first of all they don't report my credit limit and second my credit line is 1/5 of some of my other cards which I don't pay a fee for. Then he gives me a line about how it is better to have a low credit limit in case my card gets stolen. What? I must have sounded really really stupid to him. I asked him what the fee was for and he said it was for servicing my account. I asked him what that involves and he said that includes the sending of the paper statement as well as the WONDERFUL(btw I'm j/k) customer service that I receive. Oh, and he also said that other banks charge this to me in one way or another (apr, etc.) - but CapOne is just upfront about it. I plan on calling back and getting what I want or cancelling or maybe going through pfb. I just got really ticked that he could justify all the reasons that I hate that card. If anyone has a number for anyone at CapOne who could help me, I would appreciate it.
