My DW & my BAD credit

I just joined CN.....been at CreditInfoCenter for a few months. Alot of experts here, so I wanted to post my problem to get another perspective.

I live in Texas, just finished my 2nd round of CRA disputes. Have 17 deletions to date. The problem is I have 9 new neg TL's added recently.

Most are NSF checks and a couple collections. All of which are checks which my DW bounced and accounts that she opened and let go unpaid. I have all sorts of negs on my CR that I had nothing to do with. So my questions are:

    1. Can DW authorize companies to pull my CR without my consent. ( I have numerous INQ's due to this...do I have any recourse against th co.that pulled my CR?)

    2. When the above described account goes to collections, can they put it on MY CR?

    3. With regards to the NSF checks (written on our joint acct.) can they put on my CR?

Thankyou in advance for your help, TX

I've been down a similar road, my friend. First of all, get separate checking accounts. That way, if she bounces a check, it won't affect your account, or your CR. She may not be happy about it, but I did that with my wife. I had to..she was ruining my banking and credit record.

Secondly, tell her if she wants to apply for any new credit, she has to do it on her own. She can't list you as a co-signer or co-creditor. If she does, and doesn't pay on it, it affects your credit rating.

Let her ruin her own credit...

We do have separate accounts now, these NSF's are from before. I didn't know anything about the untill they started popping up on my CR. My wife always checks the mail so I never saw any collection letters.

I want to pay them, but there are so many and things are tight so it will take some time to get them all settled. In the mean time I want to know if I have any chance of removal since they're no mine????

    Thanks again

The checks are your responsibility too, since it was a joint account, however, you will need to find out how the cc's got your name and added you as joint on those accounts.

Thanks..OK the checks I can live with, I suppose I'll DV the CA's and see what will come of it.

BUT, the other part of my question is:

    1. Is it a PP for a company to pull MY CR without my verbal or written consent - only because my DW when applying for credit gives them my name and SS# along w/ hers.

    2. If she gets credit and it goes to collectin, can they put it on my CR?

    Thanks,
    TX

If she applied as you being co-applicant (sounds like it) yes to 1 and 2

Thankyou for your reply.....doesn't sound very promising though. I really was hoping that I would have some recourse in order to get these INQ's and COL's removed.

I guess my 8 month repair plan is going to be extended to....well forever. ::::::::(((((((((((

There's still hope. Lots of techniques around here :)

I hope you don't have to resort to putting "fraud alerts" on your cr's to keep her from doing this again. Hopefully that problem is solved.
