Ok, CNetters.....My friend is finally getting separated from her abusive husband. She and her 3 kids are moving out this week. BUT she has to file for bankruptcy. I need a link to FREE bankruptcy forms for NYS, she wants to do this herself so she doesn't have to pay for a lawyer. I think she can do a 13 and reorganize. So those forms would be awesome. Can you help her?
Breeze, or anyone else.... What forms does she need to file for chapter 13? There's a TON there, and the instructions there really don't help. Thanks in advance.
Darned if I know. Does your friend qualify for legal aid to help her with the forms? Or could she maybe afford a paralegal, if she doesn't qualify for for legal aid? There's a lot of mistakes can be made doing this. A ch 7 would be easier. Why is she filing ch 13? That's for protecting assetts. Even if she owns a home, she can still file 7 if she qualifies.
She doesn't really qualify for anything, that I know of. Her house and her car are joint with her soon to be ex husband. So I don't think that she can do a 7 without his signature. She WANTS to pay, just can't do it all. Does ANYONE know what forms she should file?
