Hi everyone, I'm starting the process of cleaning up my credit. My husband and i would like to purchase a house in 6-18 months. History is I have 10 positives on my credit and 4 negatives. I have about $40,000 in student loans I'm repaying monthly. No car loans, mortgage or credit cards of any type or personal loans. Here are the negatives on my credit. CBM COLLECTIONS INC Balance: $0 Date Updated: 07/2009 Original Balance: $56 Original Creditor: (original creditors name) Past Due: $0 Pay Status: >Payment After Charge Off/Collection< Account Type: Open Account Responsibility: Individual Account Date Closed: 04/2007 Date Paid: 04/2007 Loan Type: Collection Agency Attorney Remark: >Paid collection< Date placed for collection: [ 01/2007] Estimated date that this item will be removed: 07/2013 CMI Balance: $0 Date Updated: 05/2007 Original Balance: $162 Original Creditor: (original creditors name) Past Due: $0 Pay Status: >Payment After Charge Off/Collection< Account Type: Open Account Responsibility: Individual Account Date Closed: 05/2007 Loan Type: Collection Agency Attorney Remark: >Paid collection< Date placed for collection: [ 07/2006] Estimated date that this item will be removed: 02/2013 DELL FINANCIAL SERVICES Balance: $0 Date Updated: 03/2010 High Balance: $1,539 Credit Limit: $1,500 Past Due: $0 Pay Status: >Charged Off as Bad Debt< Account Type: Revolving Account Responsibility: Individual Account Date Opened: 09/2005 Date Closed: 02/2007 Date Paid: 03/2007 Loan Type: Charge Account Remark: >Profit and loss writeoff< Estimated date that this item will be removed: 06/2013 There is another one I didn't copy down its from a bank but now it's with a collection agency. I haven't paid this one and I recently received a letter in the mail saying I could settle for around $100. Which is a several hundred $$$ discount. I'm was thinking of paying, but first sending the payment by deletion letter. Does that sound like a good idea or should I do a debt validation letter first? With the above three listings I think my only option is to do a goodwill letter. Is this correct? All three appear to be "charged off" but they are all paid with $0 balance. Any other ideas you have given the above information would be excellent. I'll be posting about my husbands at a later date. Thanks in advance. I love this forum. So much information!
I forgot to add the fourth negative I typed about with the bank that has now gone into collections began late 2006. (2006 was not a good year : )
