Today, I noticed CreditExpert (Experian) has updated my debt ratio, changed from 58% available credit to 96%. How did it affect my score, you ask? For the first time, my score has crossed the 700 line, and - I might add - with flying colors! "CURRENT SCORE AND RISK LEVEL 726" I'd like to thank this board for its invaluable help. I did not even have a credit file until 3/2000, when I applied for 3 cards and was declined for all except a secured Capital One. That was my first tradeline, and it was opened on 5/2000 - just a little over 1.5 years ago. There is no such thing as "stuck in subprime hell". It may take a little time, but if you play your cards right, you become prime. Armed with persistence and a desire to learn, ANYONE can do it. Saar
What have you received since then? I have an account with cap one opened 4/01. Another Cap One 5/01 and a Bank of America 12/01. need a new card to transfer.
Congrats Saar. Well deserved. And I completely agree that with persistence, anyone can accomplish the same. I've gone from 47 negs. to 1 negative about to be deleted, and 2 public records coming off in a couple of months. I never thought I'd get anywhere near where I am now. Congrats again.
*** Clapping *** Congrats - Way to go! So the available credit does make a big difference after all... GT
CONGRATULATIONS! I have always said patience and discipline are great allies in your quest for better credit. www.creditsense.com
Saar, how low was your credit score when you first applied for the secured Capitol One? The reason I ask is because I want to get a secured credit card, but when I called Capital One up, they said even though it's secured there's still a chance that I'll get denied if my credit is bad enough. I currently have a 550 average score.
Vectorz, you should be FINE for cap1 with that score, even unsecured... Saar, I know you feel great because my EX report only crossed the 700 line 2 weeks ago. But I had to cut my celebrating short when I realized that almost everything I could possibly apply for, credit cards, auto financing, etc. harly cares about EX. They sweat the EQ "beacon" score. At the moment, my EQ score is the lowball. But when my scores adjust roughly around the 18th of the month, I expect my EQ to be better behaved.
Congratulations! My father always said, if you're going to do it, do it all the way. Looks 50 points is all the way. Mike G.
Congratulations Saar! I always assumed that, with your credit card expertise, your credit scores already had you in the much coveted "700 Club"! Thanks to your info., I got my first prime card in about 10 years--Citi Platinum. The limit should improve my ratios as well (as soon as they report), and I am looking for a rise in my scores also! Congratulations again! cariba
My mother has 12 negatives on Experian and used to have 29. She had a cap one secured but got rid of it in favor of being AU and joint on some of mine. Her lowest score on EX was about 410. So it's not totally hopeless. Her file at the time included paid and unpaid judgments, charge offs, and numerous 30 and 60 day late pays.
