My Journey So Far With Equifax

Started the process in November when I pulled my Equifax report online. Have a BK7 from 1995 and two judgements(one filed in 1/00, the other in 10/00). Two collection accounts(one that was included in BK, the other new- 4/2001).

Four chargeoffs including three credit cards, none of which had a limit of more than $500.

Two lates including a car loan that I had traded the car in one month before they reported the lates. Basically the dealership that I bought my new vehicle at took their time in paying off the loan.

Three 120 day lates, two of which were accounts that were not mine and the other had not updated balance.

And several student loans that are all in deferrment, but I had started repaying them again. Loans are consolidated in one payment.

    FICO score 488

    1st round dispute results:
    a) Most recent collection account updated to reflect paid in full before it was sent to collection.
    b) Both judgements updated to report satisfied/released.
    c) All three 30 day lates deleted
    d) One of the 120 day lates removed

Sent off a second series of disputes with results due1/21/02

    I checked my Equifax today
    Score still @ 576
They have one disputed item on the wrong account
My 2 medical collections showing reinvestigation in process

I can't dispute online because of a local office in the area.
    I sent a fax & a letter via mail
The fax was acknowledged via email and I received the Return receipt.

today I sent another fax for inquiry disputes and a correction on the wrong disputed item.

TU & Experian have both updated my report in less than a week.

Most of my creditors pull Equifax and it is my worst.

Equifax has been pretty good to me. Everyone here seems to pull experian (my worst of all three). Scores range from 429 (Experian) to 560 (Equifax). Of course, NONE of them will delete the incorrect stuff, it's always the stuff I don't care about that goes away. Either way, Experian has done an excellent job of getting Inquiries deleted. TU is another story.

Equifax will usually delete just about anything, the moment it's past the validation period it's gone. At least that's what happens to me when I dispute something. If it doesn't come back validated, they remove it. Except for the #$%@ few that are incorrect and comming back validated.

I will keep my fingers crossed on
Equifax it is my only hold-up.

I have a local office about 40 miles from where I live.
I have had better luck with online disputes.

Both Tu & Experian have deleted or updated most of my requests.

I disputed Equifax before the other 2.

I screwed up because I sent a fax first
then a return reciept to Equifax and they will go by the later date

    Lessons learned

So far I have had no luck w/ W Equifax on anything
but their time is not up yet.

TU & Experian have been great.

Equifax doesn't delete alot of inquiries, luckily I don't have many. The few I have were deleted when I disputed them. The only things showing on mine are really consumer udates.
