I have read the " unofficial FAQ", glossary of terms, and multiple other links associated with the "unofficial FAQ". I have been lurking on this board for awhile now and have begun my journey as of yesterday. I still have some remaining questions. 1. In regards to chargeoffs, I am not sure that some of them are mine but one definitely is. How should I deal with these, all as not mine? I can pay off most of these since the total of them is only around $250. I would rather not pay for deletion though. 2. There are two chargeoffs on my EQ report that are identical (different account numbers and dates though). Is this a violation? What do I do to correct this situation, do I need to validate with both CA's and go from there? I have never received any intent to collect money or anything like this. I was completely unaware of these balances ACCOUNT DETAILS BELOW: RISK MANAGEMENT ALTERNATIVES Date Assigned: 12/2003 Account Number: XXXXXXX Client Name: MCI TELECOMMUNI Original Amount Owed: $83 Balance Owed: $83 Balance Date: 02/2004 Date of Last Activity: 01/2001 Date Reported: 02/2004 Status Date: 02/2004 Status: D-Unpaid Comments: N/A ***AND*** CBCS Date Assigned: 11/2002 Account Number: XXXXXXXX Client Name: MCI COMMUNICATI Original Amount Owed: $83 Balance Owed: $83 Balance Date: 01/2003 Date of Last Activity: 08/2001 Date Reported: 01/2003 Status Date: 01/2003 Status: D-Unpaid Comments: N/A 3. In regards to a J. Crew account. I paid off the balance but do not remember settling for a smaller than full payment. All of them show that information however TU also shows that it was a Collection/Chargeoff which is untrue. How do I fight this one? Again validation? All help is really welcome! I look forward to all your expertise!
Well, I am not any sort of an expert - but this is what I've learned thus far for what it's worth: Are the debts within the statute of limitations for collections for your state? Dispute everything as Not Mine.. but before disputing with the CRA's, send disputes to teh Collection Agencies via CMRRR, then dispute with the CRA's. A paid charge off/collection doesn't help you any - it remains a derogatory mark and doesn't get any better if it's listed as paid as far as scoring, from what I understand. If you pay for deletion, get it all in WRITING prior to paying. THe account above looks to be re-aged based on the date of last activity by 7 months, this is a violation. I am not sure re: the account numbers sorry.. I'm still learning and new to this, but I hope that is at least a little helpful and if I am wrong on anything, I hope someone will correct me =) Good luck!
I also believe that is a violation. It is the very first thing that I want to get solved. I am not sure exactly where to start on this one. The SOL for Wisconsin is 6 years on open and signed contract accounts. This is from 00 - 01 when I had a telephone line with 2 other guys in my apartment. SO it is definitely in the statue of limitations. I assume its a CRMMM validation to both CA's. Please correct and advise me if I am incorrect. Thank you.
. I would rather not pay for deletion though. mbeutler ================= Why???????????????????????? ><- <>- ><- <> ~~~ ><- <>- ><- <> ><- <>- ><- <> ~~~ ><- <>- ><- <> Never read the fine print. There ain't no way you're going to like it.

Dispute everything as "not mine" even if you think it is. They need to prove that it's yours and that the amount is correct. I think you have the right idea, so get started on your validation letters.
