    any comments welcome...

how about starting a business ( my idea BTW I'm claiming rights lol )

to collect & sell data to consumers
I could prepare a list of CA that were caught violating the FCRA and FDCPA and state what codes were violated and if they were sued and lists dates, times etc.

report their activities for 7 years I wonder how fast they would enact congress to change the laws to prohibit me.

hmm research wonder if I could get in trouble for posting their info what ya think guys?

As long as you can prove the information is true (you have copies of the court records, etc) you should be OK doing something like posting it on the web. If you take things that people tell you without backup, you would open yourself up for libel/slander.

I think it's a great idea, but getting verifiable information together could be hard.

Wonderful idea! Information on OC's caught violating consumer rights, with documented proof of course ;) would be a great addition I think.

I might be willing to help, but we can't use our real names!!

While the idea is novel, I wonder what value it would have. After all, why would the CA care if you post that info or not - it's not like consumers will take their business to a different collection agnecy.

The consumers might not take their business elsewhere, but a lot of people don't know that this stuff goes on. If the word gets out, people will start to complain and put more pressure on the CAs, hopefully on Congress.

thats a really cool idea, i never heard of an idea like that.

you could mimic the BBB but create a database strictly for consumer credit related stuff. The BBB and other similar types are able to report on company's and still be within the law and operate, tho the occasional lawsuit must be present.

This would be best as a non-profit type organization, of course you'd be the president with a fair salary.

I'd hate to see this be a for profit biz simply because of the stigmatism of that and the inevitable profiteering.

its a total CRA reversal.---thats awesome...

    i love it!

    Nevermind consumers.

I could see OC's wanting reports before they retain a CA. Could reduce legal exposure.

    :)

originally my thoughts were geared towards obatining a list of known CA who are repeat offenders of the FCRA and FDCPA.

of course with tangible evidence to back it all up I was planning on providing that info to the FTC in hopes that this would enact a new law of protection for consumers.

Now not all CA are bad I have encountered a few that actually are following the letter of the law.

and some collectors believe it or not I have found to be genuine and nice to work with as they are just people like us.

in general, most have attitudes that need to be adjusted you would think that they would get better results being kind and less threatning.

My other idea was to use this info to establish a reporting system kinda like a CRA with a 7 yr reporting period and provide data to the public and bbb and CRA, AG , etc

so that cross referencing can be done when complaints are filed those complaints are entered into a system which requires a response from the CA and some type of resolution, like a mandatory mediation and complaince dept, those CA that do not respond can be automatically fined a certain % depending on what and how many laws were violated.

or they could loose their bond or licensing to do business this would help unclog the court system.
