My husband had a phone bill from 1996/1997 for 950.00 that was turned over to NCO. We have disputed thru Trans Union on numerous occasions over the past two years and it kept coming back as verified.

Last year I contacted NCO by phone, (I know, wrong move) but I asked them to prove it, and that this wasnt a valid debt. The guy just told me it was too far back to get the proof but he'd take my pymt over the phone, ya right, as if that will happen.

I sent 2 validation letters, no responses. Sent them CRR, always got the green card back, sent the estopple, got the card, no response. NEVER a response. They never even marked it as disputed on our credit report.

I disputed it one more time with Trans Union, explained the situation again, this time they deleted it in two weeks.

    WOOOO HOOOO!!!

We close on our house within 30 days, we will NOT have to pay it out of closing! We were afraid that may happen, our mortgage broker said we might have to, but not anymore!

Just wanted to share our victory over NCO, they are animals.

    JAMEE25,

    CONGRADULATIONS!!!!

I'm battling these animals myself. and I hope I have as much luck. If they do not answer my Estoppel letter. I'm going straight to the court house on the 16th day and filing against them.

Good Luck! We had been battling for almost 2yrs over this, what really sucks is that we filed bk7 in 1999, they were not reporting on the credit report then, otherwise we would have included them.

This phone bill was from when he was in the Marines living on base and the phone was in his name, but his roomate was calling his girlfriend in Japan. My husband didnt disconnect the phone when he got out of the military as he should have, instead his friend was still using it, so it got disconnected for non pymt, and went straight to his credit report.

    Yes, I know...naive and stupid.

    You think that is stupid.

try falling into a scam and having it go to collections. that's exactly what this problem I have with them is all about. but I'm going to win in end. I know that they cannot validate this !! I'm just waiting.
anyway I'm glad to see someone win over these people. everytime I read someone having a victory over them I'm laugh !! because they deserve it.

Well keep after them, they really are horrible. You'll win, it just takes time. Im just thrilled about the timing on ours. We close on our house in a month, and we almost had to pay them, so they would have won!

    They are b*stards

    Good Luck with them!
