Hello. Newbie here. My wife and I have had perfect credit since 1974 - yet my scores never seem to pass 700. In fact - in the past - when paying down a balance - my score actually went down! Can anyone help??????
I would start paying bills late and maybe get something to charge off. Then you work on reestablishing credit for the next 7 years. Remember that if you are perfect there is nothing to improve so your score can't go up. This makes sense doesn't it?? LOL Reminds me of a coworker I had. Review time came and I got a 4% raise based on my merit. She had been messing up big time so she only got a 1% raise. She was told that if she improved she would get another raise in 60 days. She improved and was given the 4% raise that was standard for employees doing a good job. Well, that was in addition to the 1% raise she already got so by screwing up she got a better raise than me. I say you screw up and watch your scores skyrocket. There are people here with BK's and scores in the 700's. It's not fair at all. Kim
Funny how you and the troll who posted this thread have the same IP address. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmm
good point kim. I'm not opposed to people with bk's getting over 700 scores - but in that case those without anything negative on their report should be getting into the 800s. I'm at approx 24% credit usage - but my fico score recently dropped to 672 due to average age of accounts - length of overall credit history (oldest card 4.5 years old) and too many recently opened accounts. No lates, no derogs, no bk's - nothing negative. One would think that a 4.5 yr old credit history with nothing negative should get a higher score. It's kind of annoying.
I don't have any problem with BK'ers getting high scores since I hope to be there someday. I don't think it's fair to give someone with excellent paying history a low score. My parents have low scores because they pay everything in full every month and haven't had a mortgage in over 20 years. They each have a Visa but get denied retail cards all the time. Go figure. They have never made a payment late in their lives and my dad has a Penney's card opened in 1965. How's that for history. Too bad it's never carried a balance. Kim
leave George alone already. The badgering on this board is getting out of control. Use the ignore button. It is not kool to pick on other people.
LOL George, I've been waiting for you to respond. BTW, they are just jealous of your counter and all caps status ;-) and that you were able to sneak away for a vacation. Sassy
DANG - it was a JOKE! I hope you realize GEORGE - my post was good natured ribbing - not at all meant to BADGER. If you were offended - I apologize. Mark LA P.S. If others were offended - I apologize to them too.
Dear Mark LA, Your "joke" resulted in wasting everyone's time, including my own. Please refrain from doing so again. As a general rule, anyone found to be maintaining multiple accounts will be permanently banned from this board without prior notice. Sincerely, pbm
