I bought both my scores but equifax is 571 and transunion 631... Why is there a 60 pt difference with the same information reported when they use the same scoring model?
did you pull the scores at the exact same time? did you also pull both credit reports and compare them to see if they really do contain the exact same information? the two scores may use the same fico scoring model, but the model is applied to each credit report. and if the credit reports are different, which they often are, you're going to see a difference in those credit scores. this is from a creditnet article: "You have three Classic FICO scoresâ??one for each CRA. They're based on a scale of 300-850, and the CRAs compute the scores using the data compiled in their respective credit reports. Since an individual's credit reports from different CRAs are rarely identical, the scores often vary as well (sometimes by as much as 100 points)." Which credit scores matter most? sometimes it'll help to find out which CRA a creditor is going to use to pull your credit. in your case, it'd be better for a creditor to pull your info from transunion.
I noticed a difference between mine as well..not as much as yours though. When I started going through it line by line, I saw that most of my creditors do not report to Equifax. Neither of my current mortgages or my credit union (which has car payment and VISA card) report to Equifax. So basically, when I foreclosed on a couple of rental properties, that bank reports the bad stuff to all of the credit agencies (Thanks Bank of America) So, the other two have all of the good stuff to balance out the bad stuff
OK! I think i found the reason why the score different. On my Transunion report i have an APS bill that i paid recently in June 2010... It was back from 2005, Anyways it Reports as a Payment after charge off/collection... And updated from Nov. 2005 to June 2010! Now on my Equifax Report it says BAD DEBT/COLLECTION, Still not updated to JUNE 2010 but says "Paid" at the bottom... BUT it also says 49...90+ days late WHILE Transunion doesn't report any days late! So this is probably the reason my Transunion is 631 while Equifax is 571 correct??? Now my question is, Y did APS report to Transunion the way it did and Not equifax? Do u think i can Call APS and ask for them to report the same way as Transunion on my Equifax and Experian or did i just luck out with the way they reported to Transunion?
