So, I just pulled my Score Power report from myFICO, and am puzzled by a couple of things. Your thoughts, experts?

    1. My Verizon chargeoff, which I had tried to pay for removal, has magically disappeared, resulting in a 30-point hike in my score. I never got a response to my settlement offer, and never disputed the charge...any thoughts on why it went away? Will it come back, do you think?

    2. They list a "negative factor" as "Too many bankcard charge accounts." I find this interesting, particularly since we haven't opened any accounts since the last time I checked, when this wasn't listed. They say we have 10, but I don't see where they get this. Are they counting store cards, or just VISA and M/C? How can I tell the difference between an open account and a closed one--there are several on my report that I know are closed, but I don't see anything that says that...

Any thoughts greatly appreciated...altogether, I'm pleased with my ending score and the magical disappearance, but I'm not sure if it's safe to exhale...

    Thanks.

"TOO MANY BANK CARDS" is a CATCH-ALL-PHRASE

When you move out of one score range and into another, you will frequently get new reason codes for your FICO score... too many revolving accts is a common one.
