I was doing a search under credit repair on goto.com, where all the credit repair firms pay per click. I came to this http://www.mynewcreditfile.com/ link, I think it was ranked 14th. Its obviously a scam, but does anyone know how they get away with this? They say to create a new credit file and I know its illegal to get a new EIN, so how can they say what they offer is legal? Anyone ordered this crap?

You can file a complaint with the better business bureau and the FTC at the following websites:

    www.BBB.org

    www.FTC.gov

I absolutely agree with you, and if they are doing business in the USA then the first step to shut them down is to file a complaint with the above websites.

This sort of stuff seems to be making the rounds. Last night, a fellow on the motley fool posted a spam he got from a company in Ca. selling the same scheme.

I've seen this site too. However, their site clearly says you don't have to get a TIN or EIN. That being said, I have no idea how they do it.

    This is their disclaimer statement:

    Caution:

All responsibility for the use or misuse of this information lies solely on the reader. This manual is not sold to defraud or scam current creditors. Even though you will have a new credit file, you are responsible for all debts owing on your old file. All local & federal laws apply.

If it was legal, they wouldn't need to put such statements out. Stay away from this crap.

The curiosity got to me and I shelled out the $40 for this manual. Prior to buying it, I emailed them and asked specifically if it instructed people to get a TIN or EIN and they replied with a "NO". Now, with that reply, I've established my paper trail to dispute the charge as misrepresentation.

When I got the manual (73-page Adobe file), it outlined exactly that - how to get a TIN or EIN. I emailed them tonight asking for a refund immediately and also contacted my CC company. If they fail to refund in a timely manner, I will also threaten to report to AG.

Stay away as others have said - I have confirmed for anyoen who is curious that it is in fact a scam.

it is called FILE SEGREGATION and it is indeed illegal. Some folks have gotten away with this for years but the government is cracking down hard on those that do. In my opinion do it the LEGAL way and dispute the negatives off your report. DONT MESS WITH THIS CRAP.

    Thanks

I know what it's called. However, I specifically asked if that is what the program did and they said "No".

They're liars too. I'm sending my charge dispute to my CC company today

Not sure what TIN or EIN means but I know some scams simply give you a new SSN.

It's possible this could be what they're referring to.
