Just got my final divorce decree in my hand, and am resuming use of my maiden name. *doing the happy dance* Here's my plan.... Cancel EQ Credit Watch Gold now! Already cancelled my 90 days with PG. Once I receive new Social Security Card in the mail and my next light bill or phone bill with new name on it, dispute my "old" name as inaccurate with all 3 CRA's and provide copy of new SS card, and utility bill as proof. -If I submit my Drivers License, it will show date issued, and they may refuse to remove "old" name because of that. (I actually had a bank down here nearly refuse to cash a payroll check because my DL was issued the same day.....had washed it the day before payday) -If I continue pulling EQ CW and PG, it will only keep reinserting my married name or won't allow me to access CR because of security reasons. Contact all my creditors with positive TL's and change my name with them, so that when they update with CRA's my "old" name won't reappear from them. After those disputes are completed, and I have it confirmed in writing that they've removed my old name, sign up again for PG and EQ CW. Anyone think these steps in this order will make it more difficult to "verify" the remaining baddies' on my CR's or should I do it different? Shorty
Your SS, DOB and address remain the same. Not sure you'll get what you're looking for, but it's certainly worth a shot.
Make sure you delete any old addresses while you're at it. None of this is going to guarantee 100% success, but anything that makes verifying your dispute take more than a few keystrokes increases the probability of success. Good Luck!
