Hi there! It's Erica, you know, from the past? Anyways, I have a student loan question. I made my first payment out of forbearance this month. The forbearance lasted for 12 months total. I need another one because I'm trying to find a new job so I can afford the $180/month payment. How often can you be granted a forbearance, and if I can get another one, can I request another 12 month period?

    THanks in Advance:D

    Yes you can.

All you have to do is write them requesting additional time. They will start it from the last month paid for another year. 3 times is the max they will allow however!

I have found the student loan people to be more than gracious about helping you with forbearance and deferment, which is quite a relief.

I also just enrolled, part-time at an online school, and took advantage of deferment :)

P.S. Here is something I learned today: Companies that consolidate student loans also will adhere to deferment and forbearance requests, using Federal Aid Guidelines, as this is something I never even knew about.
