I just got off the phone with these idiots. I recieved a letter from them over a month ago regarding a returned check that they are trying to collect on that is from 1999. When I recieved the letter I promptly sent them a request for a copy of the the check. I sent this CRRR. They refused delivery. Today I recieved another letter stating that I had 10 days to pay or it was being turned over to the authorities. So I callled them. The guy I talked to on the phone was a complete ^%$%$#. I told him I have every intention of paying it but I wanted a copy of the check first. He said they don't send out copies. He then started to get very rude and started yelling and threatening me. Of course I yelled back. He also said it has already been turned over to the DA's office. Which I called immediately since I have a relative that works there and I know the person in charge of the bad check department. They have no record of it. She also told me it has to go back to the original company I wrote the check to to have a complaint filed. The collection agency is in New Jersey and I am in New York. However she wasn't sure of the law in NJ. Anyways do I have any recourse against the collection agency with the abuse and threats that I recieved from this company? I have already called the New Jersey Att. general and they have 4 complaints against this company. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks everyone.

If they REFUSE to send a copy of the check...then you can't send any money to them.

Just send another copy of your letter regular snail mail...

DON'T OPEN THE ORIGINAL CERTIFIED LETTER (that was refused)...a judge would like to see it if you go to SMALL CLAINS COURT...
