There is no way to get help with this without looking like a major looser, so here goes. I have a paid judgement on my credit report from a credit card (PNC visa) from 1992. The judgement was paid out of my refinance settlement money in 4/2005. Well there are two judgements from NCO financial reporting paid on my credit report. They have different numbers on them and different amounts. One says $8350 paid as of 5/2002. The other one says paid as of 4/2005 and is for $6836.
I contacted NCO today and got several different answers and dollar figures. The most annoying guy I talked to wanted to know and I quote " why do you care, what you paid and when you paid it? We're reporting it as paid" How freaking nice of them!!!!
I know this sounds crazy, but I think I paid the same debt twice to the tune of 14,000. The guy that I talked to admits that I paid $9675.25 on 4/22/05. So why does my credit report say that the amount of the judgement paid is $6836.00???? Another NCO person said that I paid $4262.97 in 4/2005. They all said it was for a PNC Visa. I only ever had one. Is it possible that I could have paid this twice. I know this is confusing. My head is still spinning. Of course I don't have proof of any payments. Somebody please help!!!!

Proof and paperwork are at the courthouse and in the files of your real estate settlement professional (lawyer or title company's office). The HUD-1 and the satisfactions on file at the courthouse (and perhaps your old bank statement) will tell the tale.

What was owed can be calculated with certainty, as can what was paid. And if there was naything extra taken by NCO, they can and should pay it back, and if you handle things right, they will pay it back.

    NCO Judgement paid twice??

By handling it right, I guess you mean keeping my cool? I didn't blast anybody or anything. I'm just so frustrated, it seems like every other day, I find another obstacle to overcome. I'm really mad at myself, what kind of nut, possibly pays that kind of money, twice???? Thanks for your help. I'll let you know what I find out.

Just looked at the HUD sheet the payoff was to a law firm, one of the lawyers is listed as the Attorney under NCO as Plaintiff. The amounts are still different, though. My credit report says $8350. and the HUD sheet says payoff $9813.. Is that for lawyer fees??? It says Judgement paid 5/02 and the settlement was in 2005, I don't get it. I will get to the courthouse ASAP and try to put an end to the mystery. It's really bugging me.

Judgments accrue interest over time. Your credit report will only show the original principal balance of the judgment - that would likely be the difference. Lawyers fees if awarded, would be included in the original judgment amount - they can't tack them on later.

As far as the date differences - honestly I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth on that one. If its reporting paid in 02, it will fall off in 09, as opposed to 2012.

I suspect that the duplication is probably some sort of mismatch between the Original Judgment, and the Satisfaction of Judgment that would have been filed when you paid it off, generating a duplicate on your crs.

On another note - you can't rely on anything NCO tells you, and FYI - they aren't the ones reporting your Public Records. There are companies like Lexis Nexis that are actually responsible for the reporting to the CRAs.

Go to the courthouse, and get everything on file in regards to your judgment, then a plan of action can be taken as to how to dispute with the CRAs.

    NCO Judgement paid twice???

    One more question,
I;m trying to not take any time off from work (unpaid). My best friend has agreed to go to the courthouse and get this info for me, will they let her? It is a public document, right????

Believe so, just call ahead and ask. You also want to make sure they don't have to crawl down into the basement to find them, necessitating a second trip.
